Week 2: The Secret to Making Healthy Meals More Satisfying

Have you ever eaten what seemed like a perfectly healthy meal… only to find yourself hungry again an hour later? 🤔

Eating healthy isn't just about choosing foods that are nutritious. A satisfying meal should also keep you comfortably full and energized.

The secret? Build your meals with a combination of protein, fiber, healthy fats, and plenty of flavor.

🍗 Start with Protein

Protein is one of the biggest players when it comes to feeling satisfied after a meal. It helps support your muscles and can help keep hunger at bay.

Think chicken, turkey, beef, fish, eggs, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, beans, and lentils.

TFP Tip: Look at your meal and ask, “Where's the protein?”

🥦 Add Fiber

Fiber adds bulk and helps slow digestion, which can help a meal stick with you longer.

Vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains, oats, and potatoes are all great sources.

And don't underestimate vegetables! They add volume, nutrients, texture, and color without making your meal feel heavy.

🥑 Don't Be Afraid of Healthy Fats

A little healthy fat can make a meal more satisfying and adds richness and flavor.

Avocado, nuts, seeds, olive oil, and certain cheeses are delicious examples.

The key is balance, not eliminating fat.

🌿 Make It Delicious!

This one is easy to overlook—but it matters!

If your healthy meal is bland and boring, you're probably not going to look forward to eating it. Fresh herbs, garlic, citrus, spices, homemade dressings, marinades, and sauces can completely transform simple ingredients.

Healthy food should taste GOOD!

🍽️ Think Beyond Calories

Instead of asking only, “How many calories are in this?”, try asking:

“Is this meal going to satisfy me?”

A meal with protein + fiber + healthy fat + lots of flavor is often much more satisfying than a meal that simply has fewer calories.

That's one of the ideas behind Tanya's Fresh Prep: creating wholesome meals that don't leave you feeling like you're sacrificing flavor or satisfaction just because you're trying to eat well. 💚
